Departures listed date by date by Langkawi Ferry Line, 2 November to 31 December 2026; the clock times differ every day · Representative sailings only — check the operator for today's full schedule

Seats, sold-out sailings and extra trips Langkawi Ferry Line's viewer marks some departures as closed for sales or sold out, states that ferry times can change without notice, and says an extra trip may be added at any time. The board lists the scheduled times only, not whether seats remain.

VIP seats On some departures a VIP seating section is sold separately. It travels on the same boat at the same time and is not an extra sailing.

Customs check when leaving Langkawi The operator advises passengers leaving Langkawi that there is a customs check before the ferry terminal, which can take a long time at weekends, during school and public holidays and at special events.

One-way fares per person, identical from Kuala Kedah and from Kuah, as printed on Langkawi Ferry Line's ticket cards in CutiCuti Langkawi. Visitors without a Malaysian MyKad pay the non-MyKad fare. The cards call passengers aged 12 and above adults and place children at 3 to 12, so ask which fare a 12-year-old needs; reduced child, senior (MyKad, 60+) and OKU fares exist but are not listed here. CutiCuti shows the amount to pay only at checkout, after you log in. Tickets are non-refundable. CutiCuti's ferry terms allow a change of date or time up to 48 hours before departure for a fee of half the ticket price, while one answer in its FAQ says confirmed purchases cannot be changed: check before paying. All fares in Malaysian ringgit (MYR) unless another currency is shown.

The passenger boats from Kuala Kedah land at Kuah Jetty Point, the ferry terminal in Langkawi's main town, and Langkawi Ferry Line puts the crossing at about 1 hour 45 minutes. The company, Langkawi Ferry Line Ventures, was formed in 2005 by merging seven ferry firms and also runs the Kuala Perlis service. This route takes foot passengers only: CutiCuti Langkawi, the operator's online ticket platform, says vehicles reach the island solely on the RoRo ferry from Kuala Perlis.

Do not expect the same clock times every day. Langkawi Ferry Line publishes its departures one date at a time in a schedule viewer, and the times drift from one day to the next. Between 2 November and 31 December 2026 there are four sailings in each direction on almost every date. The first boat out of Kuala Kedah goes anywhere between 06:30 and 13:00 depending on the date, and the last between 14:00 and 20:00; from Kuah the first sailing falls between 07:30 and 13:00. The board above loads the list for each date, but it cannot tell you whether seats remain, and the operator says times may change without notice.

Fares are per person, one way, and the same in both directions: RM55 for adults without a MyKad, which covers foreign visitors as well as MyPR and MyKAS holders, and RM28.60 for MyKad or MyTentera holders, including a RM2.10 fuel surcharge. CutiCuti takes cards, FPX online banking and several e-wallets, and shows the final amount at checkout once you have logged in. Counter tickets are sold at Kuala Kedah jetty (04-762 6295) and at counters 1, 6 and 7 of the Jetty Point complex in Kuah.

Plan to be inside the terminal an hour before your boat. On the way back from Langkawi, leave more time: the operator mentions a customs check before Kuah terminal that is slow at weekends and in holiday periods. At check-in you show a MyKad or passport and the e-ticket, printed or on your phone with its QR code. Tickets carry the passenger's name, cannot be passed to someone else and are not refunded; a missed sailing means buying a new ticket.

  • Arrive at the jetty in good time; check-in counters can close a few minutes before departure, and routes with immigration checks need extra time.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — rough seas, low tide and the monsoon seasons can change or cancel sailings.
  • Carry your passport on routes to Thailand; some destinations charge a separate park or entry fee.
